Managing Quality Control in China:
Lessons Learned from China's Manufacturing Crisis

Toothpaste contaminated with antifreeze. Pet food ingredients tainted with melamine. Drug-laced seafood. Toys containing lead and toxic chemicals.

Flawed imported goods and components from China have been at the forefront of the news in 2007. As a result, U.S. companies sourcing from China have had to scramble to test products in an effort to avoid becoming the next Mattel. Under U.S. law, the importer is responsible for product quality and safety. U.S. companies, therefore, are in a position where they have no choice but to take on more responsibility for the safety and quality of products and components sourced in China. In order to do so, companies need to implement quality control measures and carefully screen suppliers, which can be challenging in a market such as China. This seminar will address the following issues and more:

  • How to establish Chinese operations and work with Chinese suppliers to construct high standards of integrity and quality control.
  • How to screen suppliers in China.
  • Pocedures for monitoring and managing quality control in China.
